The motor is underpowered. I'm on my third one. The motor burns out under normal use. Homedics should offer a heavy duty model with a more powerful motor and construction. But so far, they are honoring the warranties. For me, they last an average of 5-8 months.

I bought this because I have sharp pains on either side of my upper back/shoulder area. I'm a court reporter and I spend a lot of time sitting at depositions and sitting at my computer. Maybe the pain is from slouching, I don't know. I need to see a chiropractor. Firstly, this thing will *grind* it's massagers into your back. You can feel it in your bones. At first it hurt, but now I've gotten used to it and it feels amazing. The heat gets very warm, and nicely complements the massage action. This massage cushion is worth every penny. Sometimes I position myself at different heights in the seat to get a proper upper back massage. I'm short, so the upper back massage position goes well above my upper back and I can't even feel it. I'm glad I got this model. It fits great into the chair I use and I can velcro the straps around the back of the chair or around a pillow. It's very easy to use and transport. It folds up and it's lightweight. It's just what I wanted. You will probably not be disappointed with this device.

I bought this for my wife's birthday, and she loves it. She weighs roughly half of what I do, and so can use it on the couch comfortably, but when I place my 230 lb. frame on it, it sounds like it is slowing and struggling. I have not yet tried it on a more rigid and upright chair, where I guess it might work better. But I would recommend it for anyone looking for an affordable massager who is small to medium-large.

I bought this item about 3 weeks ago and just love it! It does a great job massaging the back, I especially like the function of an upper and lower massages or you can do the whole back. It is very portable and the power cord is very long, making it easy to find an outlet within reach of the massager. I would recommend this product to anyone and absolutely love it!
